So, first things first, what is a terpene?
Terpenes are not specific to cannabis - they are what create the natural odors all plants and are the primary component for what gives essential oils their scent. So, cannabis terpenes are the just the specific natural flavour compounds found in the cannabis plant that give the “weed flavour” and the natural aromas to e liquids and CBD vape oil.
Terpenes come in a variety of complex but distinctive flavours (like wine). Whilst there are over 100 different terpenes, we’ve outlined the main flavour groups below, but important to remember that many strains of cannabis inspired vape liquids and vape oils are a combination of terpenes to create a specific flavour profile for example Sour Diesel is a combo of Myrcene and Limonene terpenes.

Myrcene: known for its earthy, fruit aromas (Mango contains quite a bit of myrcene) and seen to help with inflammation. Usually found in indicas (sample strains: Mango Kush and White Widow).
Caryophyllene: a spiced wood and peppery aroma. Seen as a pain and stress reliever (sample strains: Super Silver Haze and Skywalker)
Pinene (alpha and beta): as the name suggests, being immersed in a forest of pine trees - pinene is found in large quantities in conifer trees. Associated anti-inflammatory properties and improving airflow (sample strains: Blue Dream, and Island Sweet Skunk)
Limonene: found in citrus plants giving it their strong lemon and orange aromas. Though to boost immunity and reduce stress (sample strains: O.G Kush, Sour Diesel and Super Lemon Haze).

But, I hear you ask, if terpenes give e liquids a "weed" flavour and actually come from the cannabis plant - does that mean they will get me high and I’m breaking the law?
